CHI straighteners??

I was wondering...

1- What's the difference between the original model and the Farouk model?

2- What are some advantages and disadvantages of these straighteners?

and

3- Will a CHI straightener work on frizzy, wavy, chlorine damaged hair, and if so, which one should I get?

Thank you thank you thank you! :)

CHI straighteners??

1. Farouk is the name of the company that manufactures Chi products. So there is no "original" model and then the "farouk" model. They are the same.

2. The advantage to this flat iron is that it uses negative ions and ceramic plates to straighten the hair at high temperatures without damaging the hair and stripping it of moisture. Also, to a professional stylist, it's advantage is that is heats up very quickly, and can stay at a high temperature for a very long period of time. (In other words, we can keep it turned on all day and it won't hurt anything)

A disadvantage would be that they don't have heat settings on most of the models, it's either on or off. However, I believe the ones they are producing now can be set to either High or Low. Other than that, there aren't too many disadvantages to these irons. They won't damage your hair like some other irons, and they are durable and long-lasting.

3. Yes, they work on all hair types from super tight coarse curls to super straight fine hair that just needs to be smoothed. However, I would recommend using a nice clarifying shampoo once a week for chlorine damaged hair (I really like Shampoo Three by Paul Mitchell). Here are some other tips: Never use on anything other than totally dry hair. If your hair is damp at all, you WILL fry it. Also, use a heat protector spray, like Redken Fabricate or Matrix Iron Smoother on the hair before flat ironing, but avoid using any other kind of products (gel, mouse, hairspray) BEFORE flat ironing. If you do, you will get product buildup on the iron, and your hair can become very damaged. However, it's 100% okay to use hairspray or other products AFTER you are done straightening.

In conclusion, I highly recommend getting a Chi iron, and for you I would suggest getting the 1 or 1 1/2 inch size so that you can work with smaller sections of hair to get the smoothest and straightest style possible. A Chi really is worth the investment. You will love it. Good luck!

CHI straighteners??

I dont know any of those questions but I have really wavy curly and frizzy hair and I shampoo it with Pantene Pro-V EXTRA staright shampoo and them comb blow dry it with a round brush. It starightens your hair really good.

CHI straighteners??

A CHI flat iron is top of the line in the world of hairstyling. it will and can do anything you want it too. If your hair is what you described in question 3, by all means, get a CHI you'll be surprised. My suggestion is to always use a flat iron spray/thermal protective spray before you use any type of flat iron. It protects your hair from extereme heat.

The only disadvantage I can think of is that I have normal color treated hair. I have hair that all stylist dream about, it will do anything - anything. Therefore, a CHI, I feel is too hot for my hair. I have used it on clients with hair as you described in your question and they loved it!!

I hope this helps. If you would like other stylist opinions, check out my yahoo! group cosmoinfo2006 and post your question there, they could give you lots of insight.

BTW, don't use pantene, it leaves a waxy build up on your hair over time. You know the shine they promise in their product? it's wax.

CHI straighteners??
