Using cheap flat irons to do hair curling?

I've watched a lot of "how to use a flat iron to curl hair" videos, and I realized that people who in those videos all use very expensive flat irons like CHI and Sedu to curl their hair. My hair is very straight, so I'm not going to use the flat iron to straighten my hair. The reason why I want to use a flat iron to curl hair is because I heard using a flat iron to do hair curls is actually last longer, and hair is softer than using a curling iron. I am just wondering if I use cheap price flat irons like Conair to curl my hair, would it come out as good as using those expensive ones like CHI and Sedu?

yeah you could use those straighteners although the more expensive ones would be better. because your hair is straight, it will not take the curl very easily or hold it. i would suggest washing your hair and conditioning it with a curl boosting shampoo and conditioner and towel drying it. then put a little mousse through it and finger dry your hair. then when you section your hair to curl it, spray each section with a structure spray or curl boosting spray before your curl each section. this will make your hair take the curl better and it will last longer

but then again maybe is cuz my hair is already wavy

Regardless of the price of the iron, use some products as a pre-heat treatment to protect your hair. Try Mixed Chicks system then do your heat. The prodcts they have are designed to tame frizz and define curls, but if you use them before an iron, your hair comes out really soft. Good luck. And here is my creedo..."Straight for a day, but curly for life."
