I have really curly hair too, so I understand the troubles of trying to straighten it. I would stick to something that would straighen it dry, anything else on curly hair just makes it big and frizzy. Obviously, there's a reason the expensive ones are so expensive: They work well. I tried a Paul MItchel one that worked really well and cut the time in half! If it's not in your budget take a look at Wal-Mart or Target. Stick with ones that are ceramic because they can get a lot hotter and are not supposed to be quite as harsh on your hair. I have an Infiniti by Conair that works pretty well. It's the most expensive one that Wal-Mart carries and was around $50, but has some good features. As for size, it will mostly depend on how thick your hair is. If it's not that thick, you can probly get away with a 1 in. If you're wanting an expensive one, you may check online to see if you can get any good deals or discounts. Hope that helps!

I dunno the difference between the sizes, but I have a great straightener. It's a paul brown ceramic one! It's great! I do it when my hair is completely dry and it dosn't friz at all! if your hair is still frizzing, try some friz-ease anti-frizz syrum! it worked for me!

Well, I've been in the same boat as you regarding using the cheaper brands--they simply don't provide the same results as a more expensive model does. What you want to get is a ceramic straightening iron, the heating panels being made completely of ceramic, not just ceramic coated (which are what the drugstore brands carry). Real ceramic irons leave your hair silky straight and seals in the moisture in your hair!
The difference in size basically allows you to have control over how much hair you're gonna run through the straightener. I have used 2" and 1 " and have gotten pretty much the same results.
The most recommended brand out there is the CHI. It works beautifully. Shop online and you can find some good deals. Seriously, the money spent is well worth it! Good luck! :)

here is what I do, cause I also have curly and frizzy hair and this usually works for me: I use John Frieda shampoo for straight hair but I dont use conditioner cause I have over oily hair. Then while my hair is still wet, I add Thermosilk heat-activated cream to the ends to help prevent splits (it doesnt totally prevent it, but it slows it down). Then with still wet hair I use a conair straightener which was around $30, it has purple staightening plates. Then, when I am done straightening, I put Garneir Fructis sleek and shine weightless anti-frizz serum on my hair. That defenitly helps my frizz alot. But I would make sure not to concentrate the serum on the top of your head, I usually put most of it on the part of my hair that is hanging down, and then with whats left, I sparingly add it to the top so it doesnt look greasy

http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j... This is the one that i use and my hair is naturally frizzy and poofy and really wavy and when its done it is straight smooth and silky. Also use Herbal essences none of your frizziness shampoo and conditioner and let your hair air dry. Do a Vo5 hot oil treatment. And also take your time when you straighten it and straighten every part of your hair. Go over your hair 2-3 times with it. Good luck.

NO YOUR STRAIGHTENER PROBABLY DOESNT WORK ON YOUR HAIR. JUST DO WAT I DID BUY THE 1/2 INCH STRAIGHTENER THE ONE I GOT MAKES YOUR HAIR SHINY, NO FRIZZ EITHER.
