I am looking to invest in a good flat iron. I was thinking about the CHI.?

But I've heard the CHI doesn't last over a year. I have a Jibere right now and it's been ok but doesn't straighten like the CHI (it was used on my hair in a salon). I love the CHI but I am just concerned about the length of time it will last. Has anyone had any luck with the CHI lasting over a year or can you recommend another brand? I have thick long wavy hair.

I absolutely love my CHI and have had it since November 2005 with no problems. I've never heard about it not lasting long, but I do take good care of it. For instance, it doesn't seem like a good idea to leave the heating element on for an extended period of time - I know with some of the cheaper hair irons I had to leave them on for about 15 minutes before they got hot enough. The CHI only takes a minute or so and it's ready to go, so I wouldn't leave it on for an extended period of time.

My hairdresser recommeded a Chi flat iron about 2 years ago and it hasnt given me any problems as a matter of fact I gave it to my 13 year old and purchased another one.

I own a chi and use it every day at work, for 5 years now, I love it and it will last you a long time as long as you take care of it! Dont drop it or you;ll crack the plates or break you springs in it! Its worth the investment. Those are made for salon use, so they are made for all day use, so if you are just using it at home it will last you a long time. You can also insure it through the store u buy it from.
