i've had this straightener for about 3 or 4 years. i have very frizzy hair, so i need an answer quickly!!! one thing i can tell you is that i still have the box, but i can't find the warranty. WHAT SHOULD I DOOOOO???

After i swim bathe shower ect my hair gets wavy once its dry! Even if i blow dry ir (I have a blow dryer with a straightening atachment) but when i wake up in the morning its wavy. I straighten it and use a chi spray to help the straightener but later on if its humid it gets puffy or something. WHat can i do besides straightening and blow drying? Thanks!
you can't stop it if you have naturally wavy hair. You just have to live with it i guess. and dont even think about getting it chemically straightened, you will do soo much damage to your hair. Enjoy your wavy hair!
I would get a straight perm. Its like getting a perm, but it keeps it straight. That should fix the problem.
Look around for beauty shops and find a good place that does good perms and you should be fine and it will stop that probelm, but i think you have to get it done or fixed every 6 weeks.. or 6 months im not sure.
I have had my hair straighten in the past with the Chi system, but never had this stickyness residue left on my hair. It is hard to brush through my hair when drying. My hair doesn't look dry or brittle and when it is dried it is not sticky anymore and looks fine, but I am confused why it is so sticky and hurts when I brush my hair when wet. Anyone with expericence with hair straightening every had this happen to them? Could it be that the stylist left stuff in it? I am nervous that my hair is now destoryed. I only get a straightening once a year and dye my hair only several times per year, so I do not understand why my hair became so shot....Any advise would be appreciated it.
This happend to me after it was colored at home. You hair is "fried", get yourself a good conditoner, pay for the good thick stuff. Panteen makes a really good hair mask, wash as normal, when wet put in put a bag over your hair and a towel over that. wait 30 min, then rince it out. do this a few times a week and your hair will impove dramiaticly over the next while.

My daughter has had her hair straightened twice and also dyes and highlights her hair and she has had no problems with it being sticky while wet. Are you using a good hair conditioner? I would suggest Nexxus Humectress or Neutrogena Intensive Hair conditioner in a tube.
i was thinking of either getting a babyliss or a chi. problem being chi's are $164 i dont have a credit card so ebay is not an option, i was thinking of going to trade secrets or maybe even getting a true ceramic pro from the kiosk they have set up. any ideas? any reccomendations?
Well honestly Chi's are worth the money they work soo well and they last forever, my friend has had one ever since it came out and it is amazing :D

Get it from Trade Secrets. They will offer you a warranty with the store as well as the manufacturer and if you ever have a problem, you can go to any Trade Secrets to get help (exchanges/returns/warranties). They'll replace your iron on the spot. With the little kiosks, there is no warranty and they can be hard to find if they ever close. They also have to send out their irons so that will take a while if you need help. The Chi (169.95 plus tax) is great if your hair is really curly or really coarse because it heats up to the hottest setting in under a minute. The babyliss is better if you have fine hair, as you may want a lower heat setting. Hope that helps.

i have a chi and it works great on my hair but humidity makes my hair kind of flip out i need a shampoo to help prevent that
No shampoo, conditioner or smoothing product is guaranteed to keep hair straight. Also, the elements of where you live play a huge factor in how your hair behaves.
Here is a remedy that works for every hair type, however, you must be willing to spend time on your hair to optimize the effects:
Try AVEDA Smooth Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner. It smooths and softens hair up to 60% when used together. After you shampoo, combine a dime size of AVEDA Hang Straight with @ 5 drops of AVEDA Light Elements Smoothing Fluid, emulsify in your palm and distribute evenly through your hair. Next Blowdry with a round large boar bristle brush and finish what ever you cannot straighten with a flat iron and complete the process with AVEDA Air Control Hair Spray for humidity control.
Redken smooth down shampoo and conditioner, then try the treatment called sleek obedience.
I've used the biosilk stuff that you put in to straighten your hair. It works very good for the humidity and I live in Fl so lots of humidity. I would imagine the shampoo works really good too.
Garnier Sleek and Shine SHEER. Or you could try Sunsilk, the purple kind...
The best shampoo for straightening would have to be herbal essences straight out! it comes in a purple bottle. It works really good because it prevents frizzies and it gives your hair extra conditioning, so it donsn't get all course! plus it smells really good! Good Luck!
What you want is a silicone serum. Silicone coats the hair and protects it from the effects of humidity. A shampoo really won't achieve that.
Avoid serums with alcohol or water, like Biosilk, Frizz Ease, Garnier or several others. They dry out the hair or just aren't as effective because they're watered-down.
Try a pure silicone like Simply Stylin' Silk. It has not fillers and works extremely effectively in controlling frizz. Plus it makes hair very soft and shiniy. I recommend it highly.

i know it's bad for my hair but i really hate it when it's curly. this procedure works for the most part but i still end up getting split ends after about 2 months. is their anything else you would suggest doing to help reduce damage? thanks.
i use a CHI flat iron. i uses shampoo from the CHI line also along with the CHI Infra Treatment which is supposed to gibe your hair moisture. also, before i blow dry my hair i put in a leave-in conditioner which supposedly protects hair from heat. it also has protein in it which is good for hair. after i blow dry it i then put in another CHI product which is supposed to protect your hair from heat damage %26amp; also make it "silky smooth".
I do to...unless you want to have oily hair, its not going to be 100% smooth. That comes with straightening hair. But you can get close to smooth hair, try smoothing seryums from herbal essence...or something like that. Its in a purple bottle it works really well for me
Get a product call Smooth and Seal by Sexy Hair Concepts....its the absolute best for heat protection and its also weather resistant...if your hair is in bad condition I recomment Redken Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner or Redken All Soft

i do that too, i kno its bad but i dont like my hair curly either....cut ur hair once every 2 months or 1, u can wear a hair cap every other day in the shower,so itd sttay dry, n straight
Well the first thing I would say is just don't wash your hair everyday. It dries your hair out and then you can skip a day of straightening and blow drying--plus your hair looks better the second or third day after straightening. Also I don't blow dry I just air dry and then straighten so that I can avoid some extra heat damage. Get a heat protection serum or spray.
Get your hair trimmed every six weeks to reduce split ends and damage.

I have the exact same hair as you(curly) and i as well straighten my hair. And let me tell you one thing, no matter how many products you use, you're still damaging your hair in the end. Those products do help your hair, but when you use an iron you're not helping those products at all.
Try doing this;
-Your hair grows half an inch every month. Every 3 months go and get your hair trimmed. Get it cut about half an inch so that you can get rid of the split ends.
-At home, you can always take a pair of sharp scissors(not dull, you're just causing more split ends in that case) and cut your split ends.
-If you continue using an iron, don't use it every day. Use it every 3 days. I'm sure that with a Chi, you're hair will stay straight for a full 3 days, or until you wash your hair.
-Try finding alternatives. Go get some products for your curly hair and find ways to style it. Go to a hairsalon and ask what you can do with your hair. You never know, maybe you'll like it.
this is going to sound really gross but it works: once or twice a month if you put mayo all over your hair and massage it throughout your roots and split ends, it will make your hair softer and is supposed to help with split ends too. i have a lot myself and this actually does help. leave it in for 10-20 minutes and then wash your hair twice to get all of it out, then continue with your routine. it does sound disguesting but if you use gloves it helps.
OK now that happens to me when my hair is dry so what i do is get carrot oil. yes carrot oil it repairs split ends and gives it a glow. also i put some grease in my hair which also helps my hair from those horrible split ends .plus i use pantene restoration it works in a week to leave you split end free! Alot of my friends have had problems with CHI'S and I used a Vidal Sassoon one for about three years, but it recently broke. I was going to buy the same one again beacause it was only 40$, but I can't beacause it doesent have auto-shut off. What do you reccomend? 10 points promised for the best./
well, I just recently bought a professional ceramic straightener by Remmington. It's called Wet 2 Straight. I got it at walgreens on sale for only $26! and its way cool cuz you can straighten your hair even when its wet! Plus, its got auto shutoff! woohoo!... anyway, i got the 2" Wide version. it has side-vents so that the steam can escape from the iron and help reduce hair damage. It's really neat cuz its got 30 heat settings! I've got slightly wavy hair that goes to about my mid-back. Its not thick, but its not thin, either. but, when i straightened my hair, i used heat setting 20, and it only took me about 15 minutes to straighten my entire head! but it was already mostly dry, so it probably would take a little bit longer to do it if it was wet. But i love it! you should try it!

What problems are they having with Chi's? All of my friends that have them have never complained, they seem to work pretty well. Don't they have long warranties as well?
Maybe you should buy one the same as you used to have.. Who needs an auto-shut off? Just turn it off when you're done.
